The Queen Esther beauty pageant is a brainchild of Rev. Chris Okotie and was first held in December 2006 as a part of the events under the Grace Programme. This beauty competition is a remarkable pageant for Christian women and it seeks to portray the beauty and strength of the Christian woman. Proverbs 31:30 says, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.”

Contestants adorn themselves with attires reminiscent of various female bible characters. They step out with poise and to the rhythm of the music, as they model their characters with unique style. They portray the strength of the characters they represent and the originality and creativity of their attires play a great part in deciding the winner of the competition. The judges are made up of distinguished Christian women leaders, renowned fashion designers and beauticians.

The first Sister to win the crown was Jumoke Adebajo in 2006, dressed as Pharaoh’s daughter. Jennifer Gbajumo succeeded her in 2007, dressed as Pharoah's daughter. Sandra won in 2008, dressed as Queen of Sheba, Sophie Akpunonu in 2009, dressed as Eve in a unique style that won the admiration of the judges, and finally, Oyindamola Yusuf who appeared gallant, like Deborah, waving her sword drawn from its sheath.

Favour Patricia Ariole won the pageant in 2011, dressed as the renowned Queen Esther and was succeeded by Becky Oyibo in 2012, dressed as Jezebel in all her full regalia. Linda Francis won in 2013, dressed as Abigail and the 2017 reigning Queen Esther is Precious Nwaiwu and she represented Queen Esther.

The cash prize is a whopping sum of N2million. It is a fantastic competition.
